FingerPaints Soak Off Gel Polish System Review and Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Today I am bringing you a review and step by step guide of the FingerPaints gel nail system. I purchased these products from my local Sally Beauty Supply. I picked up the gel polish starter kit, the LED curing light, and four of the polishes.

FingerPaints Soak-Off Gel Polish Starter Kit includes: Cleanser, chip free bonder, base coat,
    Top coat,cuticle oil,and remover.

FingerPaints Gel Polish in order from left to right: Art You Sure? (Purple), Do You Doodle? (Dark Bronze), A Passionate Scheme (Red),Pouring My Art Out (Hot Pink).

Additional items required: nail buffer, nail file, cuticle pusher, and cotton pads (not pictured)

Step by Step Guide for Application:

Step One: Nail Prep
Begin by filing your nails to your desired length and shape. I went for a short, squared nail. Lightly buff out the nail. You can also push back and/or remove your cuticles. Lastly, clean your nails with the soak-off gel cleanser (alcohol) and a cotton pad.

Step Two:
Apply a layer of the chip free bonder to the tips of your natural nails. This step helps prevent your manicure from chipping for up to two weeks. My tip is to apply it in a sweeping motion from corner to corner of the nail tip. Pay close attention to the edges of the nails, as this is the area a manicure is most likely to chip.

Step Three:
Apply the base coat. This base coat has a medium thickness and apply smoothly and evenly. Cure under the LED light for 30 seconds. The LED light has a 30 second timer and automatic shut off. You have to cure four fingers first and your thumbs separately.

Step Four:
Choose your gel nail polish shade, I went with A Passionate Scheme, which is a bright red color. Apply your first coat and cure under the light. Depending on your desired opacity, you can apply a second coat and cure for 30 seconds.

Step Five:
Apply the top coat. Make sure to carefully apply the top coat to the nail only, avoiding accidentally getting it on the surronding skin. I found the if I used too much of the top coat my polish would start to peel off too soon. Definitely do not over apply this. Again, cure with the LED light for 30 seconds. Take a cotton pad soaked in the gel cleanser and remove the sticky residue that is left on the nail from the top coat.

Step Six:
Apply cuticle oil to your nails and viola you are done!

Overall I have had really positive results with the FingerPaints soak-off gel nail system. I've been using it for the past three months now. The LED curing light, starter kit,and four nail polishes cost me around $150. Purchasing a gel nail system is definitely somewhat of an investment. It is however worth it and might save you money in the long term if you get frequent gel manicures at nail salons. The FingerPaints system is perfect if you want to easily and quickly achieve the gel manicure at home.they have a decent selection of nail polish shades. The polishes are high shine and beautiful shades. You can purchase the products in the starter kit individually. The soak-off cleanser and remover are alcohol and acetone so if you already own these you don't really need to buy the kit. Doing gel manicures at home is fun and easy with FingerPaints gel system. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes quicker and easier to do!
